In few words:
- 10th German Potato Lifting Championships
- 2nd European Potato Lifting Championships
- Sunday, 12 September 2010, starting at 11:00am
- Farmyard of Bauer Poppe in Waffensen, Germany, on the B 75 road from Bremen to Rotenburg
- Welcome and announcement of rules of the competition, at 11:00am
- Award ceremony, at 5:00pm
What's the aim?
Every participant will be given 60 seconds to lift as many potatoes as possible and put them in a basket. The contents of the basket will then be weighed and the result entered in a list. The three participants in each age group who lift the greatest weight of potatoes will be awarded a cup and also given the title "German Potato Lifting Champion". The results are incontestable, and the jury’s decision is final.
After the German Championship, the top three champions in age groups III, IV, and V and the team group will go on to battle for the title of European Champion. On top of all this, everyone gets to take the potatoes they pick home for their own culinary delight.
